Emily is not only very knowledgeable and personally skilled as a musician but also down to earth and a wonderful human being and teacher. It is not a given that a great musician would also be a great teacher, but she absolutely is.
My favorite part about working with Emily? I have to choose just one? Not possible! Emily is such a fun person to work with, lessons have become a highlight of my week. Her musical skill, humor and kindness are some of my favorite things that make the learning environment so comfortable and inspiring.
Emily is kind, gentle but effective; the antithesis to the traditionally strict music teacher - it is with her supportive style that my children are able to grow and develop fundamental piano skills with minimal frustration. She uses positive reinforcement, which works really well for kids who are intrinsically perfectionists.
I would recommend Emily's voice studio to anyone looking to learn to sing at any level or age because Emily is such a kind, patient and intuitive teacher and inclusive of all humans and levels that it creates the most peaceful, encouraging learning space. She quickly adapts to your level/learning style and has individualized and specific feedback that always feels spot on.
I was nervous overall and a bit shy regarding my voice being heard after some bad experiences with voice teachers, and right away she made me feel very comfortable and safe to use my voice and not have to make perfect sounds all of the time. She is always very uplifting but also honest with her feedback. A compliment means more coming from her because you know it's a genuine one and her constructive feedback is always said in a kind way.
After working with Emily, I have more personal confidence in my day to day life that has come through gaining more vocal confidence.
Shimmering up on a high B comfortably is something I never thought I would be able to do, and it's quite thrilling!
